The influence of Torai-jin
(The Immigrants from the Korean Peninsula)
toward the Chikatsu Asuka





Around the Chikatsu Asuka Museum, within 1.5 Km square, 260 kofuns are sure
to be existed. They were named "ICHISUKA kofun group, supposedly made at
the latter term of the Kofun period (In the 6th to 7 th century). Among
them, 23 kofuns have been already excavated and open to the public.

ICHISUKA kofun group have distinctive features in the burial goods, such as
the crowns, the decorated shoes for the dead, sword with decorated ring
pommel, ornamental hairpin, the earrings with emblazonry,ring. It special
feature is so many gold and bronze things, but the weapons have not found
much.

Another feature is that the articles have been brought from the Korean
peninsula, such as gold ornaments.The miniature Kitchen goods also show the
influence from the Korean Peninsula.

In this exhibition, we would like to consider the features of the
articles of ICHISUKA, the old tomb group and Chikatsu Asuka region.
